Rock the Vote, founded in 1990 in response to a wave of attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression, coordinates voter registration drives, get out the vote events, and voter education efforts -- all with the intention of building political power for our nation's youth and leveraging that political power to influence change in our country. Our work doesn't end when the polls close. We empower young people to create necessary change in their communities and stand up for the values they hold including diversity, tolerance, and freedom of expression. And we continue to fight to make sure that their voices are heard in Washington by politicians on both sides of the aisle, leading voters under 30 in the fight for our basic rights as citizens of this democracy, equal participation in the voting process, and equal representation by those we elect.

Dear Rockers,

Next Sunday September 7th at 11:30 we will join up in Harwich we will commence with our first ever:

Cape Cod Rocks The Vote Parade Float
to kick off the Harvest Festival and the don't forget we will have voter registration at the craft fair and carnival all weekend the following week September 13th & 14th. If you want to volunteer you need to e-mail Ed Mc Manus and John Bangert.

The theme of the parade is Harwich Now and Then! So our float will consist of a row of voting booths with folks of every color and culture standing, or sitting in the booths. The banner scripts are "Still Voting after all the Years ", The 80th Anniversary of Cape Cod Women Voting !

We will be securing by borrowing the voting booths if we can, or by making them on Wednesday night at Ed's house. Voting today and comparing them with the voting methods of the past. So we need costumes and art works home made signs, Women and volunteers for the float as well as marchers. We need a flat- bed truck, all volunteers will have a Festival pass armband for the fair was well. The radio stations will be announcing this all week.
